Quick Lemon Update

The Bread Winner and I took Chester swimming again today. No, we don't have a death wish for him--at this point, we've spent far too much money on him to wish him dead. Yesterday, we bought him a lifejacket. Yes, you heard right, a lifejacket. This lifejacket, as a matter of fact:

Without having to worry about him drowning, I hoped he would figure out how to swim. It's the only way for him to be able to fetch during his recovery--and frankly, swimming is the best exercise for him, period. It worked like a charm. He still splashed around some, but he was kept afloat. Therefore, he didn't seem to get scared. After a short time, he looked totally relaxed, and he was having a great time. Towards the end of it, he was leaping into the water from the river bank. My dream was finally realized, and Chester was reunited with his true love--a tennis ball.

  • Yay for Chester and his ball!

  • A happy Chester means a happy you - which means a happy group of blog readers. Congrats to you for your creative solution that made your dog's life that much better.

  • Oh thank heavens! Chester's happy and getting exercise and you finally had something turn out right. If Chester only knew... I just hope he doesn't drift downstream in a heavy current or something. ~;^) You might consider insuring him...something along the lines of "Lloyd's of London" ought'ta do it for gold plated pup.

  • Man, that's one cool canine life vest!

  • We just had another successful trip to the stream. Chester will be in tip-top shape before long. Of course, that's a double edged sword. The more fit he is, the more energy he has, and the more exercise he needs, which of course makes him even more fit.... I haven't quite figured my way out of that conundrum yet.

Foxy, Just so you know, the stream is practically still in the area where he swims. No need to worry about him getting swept away. That's been part of the difficulty in findng a good spot--it needed to be deep enough and quiet enough. We've struck gold with this location though!

  • Maybe if Chester continues to get more fit and more energetic, you should just get him one of those doggy treadmill things like Astro has in the Jetsons.
