Tarot Anyone?

Years ago, I lead an alternate online life as a fortune teller. For the life of me, I can't remember what website I was involved with--just did a quick google search and turned up nothing familiar. I see my various fortune telling cards around my house on a daily basis, and a few days ago, I picked up my favorite tarot set and dusted it off.

I peered into my future and, my friends, the future did not look bright. Even though I was crushed and spiralled into a pit of depression, I started thinking about that old cliche: Misery loves company. I thought maybe I should not only give myself bad news, but others as well. Why keep my talent of predicting dire futures all to myself? Wouldn't that be selfish?

I don't really feel like joining another tarot website. Instead, I thought it would be more fun to attach it to my blog somehow. With some nifty free forum hosting, I could do it. So what do you think? Would any of you decide to tap into my psychic prowess and ask a question?

  • Yes! I've never worked with Tarot cards before, but I've been wanting to for a while now.

  • Yikes, I tried to do it, but once I set up the forum and all that, I caved under the pressure. I'll be happy to answer any question you have, though. It's just the forum thing that got to me.

  • Oz, will my art-house theater succeed?

By Blogger Dan, at 11:43 AM, July 08, 2004

  • Ok, I'm a sucker for seeing what the future holds. I have two questions actually.

    1. Will I have a full time teaching job by the end of the summer?

    2. Will my boyfriend and I grow old together?

  • Hey all, Just wanted to let you know that I am visiting my friend Beth Marie in Delaware, so I'm separated from my tarot cards. I will do all the readings tonight when I get home!

  • Dan, I pulled three cards for you: one represents the past, one the present, and the third, the future. The card for your past (in relationship to your question, of course) is the Knight of Cups. This card suggests that your emotional desires are what lead you to pursue this goal, and if you didn't pursue your goal, you would have felt unfulfilled. Nothing earth-shattering there, eh? You card for the present is the Five of Wands. This is a great card for your question. It suggests that you are trying to do something for which there is great competition (like starting a successful entertainment business) and therefore you will struggle. However, it also suggest that you have the strength and courage to face the challenges ahead of you. You card for the future was the Chariot. This is an absolutely fabulous card...only I drew it inverted, which compromises its meaning. The Chariot suggests going places, transformation, progress and achievment. Yippee! But since it's upside down, you'll have to watch out. You are in danger of falling short of your goal and/or losing direction. Be sure to complete the necessary tasks ahead of you and stay focused on what needs to be done--and do it! Don't get distracted by unimportant or unnecessary things, both personally and professionally. For instance, although it might be fun to design your theater's website, don't do that at the expense of dealing with an unpleasant--but important--vendor.

  • Janet, Question 1. Same dealy as Dan: 3 cards, one past, one present, one future. The card for your past was the Three of Wands. It's a good card which suggests that you possess good leadership qualities--obviously a nice trait for a teacher to have. For the present, I drew the Knight of Swords--inverted. The Knight of Swords tells me that you have a devilish side--devilish in a fun and funny way, yes, but you can also be a little cruel. Right now, you might want to watch out for that aspect of your nature. While you might be smarter and more fabulous than your potential employers, it's best not to let them know that. Your future card is an inverted Queen of Coins. The suit of Coins is about money and employment. Because she is inverted, yikes, I'm going to have to say that, with the way things are going now, you won't be employed as a fulltime teacher by the end of the summer. However, you can change the future.

  • Janet, Question 2, I see a lot of struggle in your relationship. I drew Justice for your past. Seems like you two have confronted some potentially relationship-ending issues, but thus far, you've decided that your relationship is more important than whatever was threatening to keep you apart. For the present, I drew an inverted Seven of Wands. Seems like there are still some issues that have not be resolved yet, but rather than tackle yet more problems, you are trying to avoid dealing with them. The future shows the Ten of Wands--more trouble ahead. Whether or not you'll grow old together, I can't say, but together, you will always be facing one problem after another. Working through these problems has the potential to make you into better people--if you're will to do what it takes.

  • Well, that was mostly depressing. Don't say I didn't warn you! Maybe Debra can break out her cards and see better, happier things for all of you...

  • Oh! I finally came up with a question (or two).

Will I ever consider my jewelry business a success?

Will I ever graduate from college?

By Blogger Whimsy Chick, at 4:01 PM, July 09, 2004

  • Kerrie, Question 1: Will I consider my jewelry buisness to be a success? Interesting question. When I first read it, I read it as "Will my jewelry business be a success? but upon re-reading it, I realized that wasn't the question at all. Anywho, here goes. Card #1 (the past) is the High Priestess, inverted. She is a gatekeeper of sorts--standing between us and something new, whether that something be a new business, a new phase of life, or a new understanding. Obviously, seeing her in your past, in relation to this question, makes a lot of sense. Her inverted appearance suggests hesitation and fear of taking this new step, but you took it. Card #2 (the present) is the Eight of Swords, inverted. It suggests some frustration from dealing with an unknown problem. It is hard to find the solution if you don't know what's wrong. Perhaps you are wondering about the wisdom of starting your business, or you are wondering what the next step is (or if there should be one), or anything else. You are feeling a little impatient, a little stressed. Aha, but never fear, for Card #3 (the future) is the Two of Coins. It represents a change, almost always work related. The change can be many things (location, new venture, etc) but for you, it is a change in attitude. Because of this card's appearance as a predictor of your future, I'd have to say yes, you will consider your business to be successful.

  • Kerrie, Question #2. That's a million dollar question that I'd like to have the answer to myself LOL. But back to you. Card 1 (the past) is the Fool, inverted. The Fool is like a child, which is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Children do not know boundaries, so they are unafraid of them. This can lead to great discoveries and happiness. It can also lead to injury and misfortune. Seems like you took your carefree ways a bit too far in the past. Card 2 (the present) is the Wheel of Fortune, inverted. This suggests that you have run into a setback with school. It will be very hard to overcome this setback, and you would have to make sacrifices in order to do so. Perhaps there are other things in your life, like your business or your children, that you would have to cut corners with in order to make it in school. Since these other obligations are legitimate and worthwhile, you are having a hard time not giving them the time and attention they deserve. Card 3 (the future) is the Four of Coins, inverted. This card, right side up, is a bearer of good news indeed. But inverted, it suggests loss of the desired goal. So I'd have to say no to this question. However, that doesn't mean that you will be unhappy and/or unfulfilled. It could be that you find the other things in your life more important and rewarding then finishing school.

  • Ozzilyn,

Oh wow. What depressing answers you saw in my fortune! :(No job, lots of problems AND I'm cruel. Ouch. I don't think I'm cruel or egotistical at all, but who knows why the cards say what they say.

Can this be like going to the doctor's where I ask for a 2nd opinion?:)

By Blogger Janet, at 2:23 PM, July 11, 2004

  • Janet, please, please, ask someone else! I hope you get more fun answers. Hey, I warned you all that I only saw bad stuff. The Bread Winner asked if perhaps my bad attitude was clouding the cards. Maybe so......

By Blogger Oz, at 11:57 PM, July 14, 2004

  • Hmmm...I'd have to find someone else to ask. I havent really seen any psychic info out there lately, unless of course I want to pay $1.00 for the first minute and $5.00 for each additional minute.

My friends and I used to go to psychics sporadically. We had a lot of fun. Only one read me well though. I have been told I am hard to read. Although you might be pretty on. I found out another friend today got a job...and moi? Still not even a call.:(

  • No problem. Multiple posts make me look popular. I'm all about appearance, not substance LOL. But if you really want to delete it, you should be able to. Just log into blogger, then come over to my blog, click on the comments link for this post, and you should see a little trashcan beside each comment you have made. Click on that trashcan, and your comment goes bye-bye.

  • When I click on the trash can though it asks me to log in and then it brings me to my blog...it doesn't sound right to me.
